Canada Bound

Someone help me: Do I need a passport to travel to Canada this summer? Or will a birth certificate and driver’s license suffice (as it has in the past)?

I have no freakin' clue.

Yep. You need a passport. If you don't, they'll be really mean to you when you try to get back into the U.S.

Those new proposed rules wouldn't go into effect until 2008 or so...and they haven't even been approved yet.

It wouldn't hurt to bring it if you have one, though.

I'm sorry that this has no relevance, but where do your little "Today" quotes go after you think up a new one? I think they're cool...

I once drove to Montreal with this lover I had only known a week. Luckily, we brought our passports along, although we didn't need to. Goddamn Michigan highway patrol caught me speeding and CONFISCATED my driver's license.

Damn Michigan! Damn it all!

I figured it out. No passport necessary, just birth certificate and driver's license.

Nope, none needed just your DL. BUT wouldn't it be more to your liking to go through the slight discomfort of getting your passport? That way if you decide to fly to far off lands, you're ready for adventure. Nothing quite as compelling as a passport in hand.

I think the rules are changing soon, and you'll need a passport--not sure when, though. You might want to have one just in case.

You don't need a passport, just a photo ID and an OFFICIAL birth certificate with the raised seal. But, get a passport anyway. It's a good item to have, and you WILL make U.S. Customs officials happier to let you back into this country.
