The Nerve

Did I say that I loved humanity? I think I did a little while ago.

What I meant to say is that it’s wretched. Truly wretched.

Especially when the door to our office is kicked in and our computers are stolen. In the past day, someone lay on the floor outside our elevators and with brute force blasted the door in. Rubber from their shoes remained on the door handle this morning like peanut butter remnants on a knife. Thankfully, I had taken my little iBook home for the weekend to commune with my little Powerbook. But, still, I must see my co-worker cry because she feels like it was her fault though clearly it’s not. And we don’t like seeing co-workers cry, do we? Then it is awkward because co-workers do not often hug or console.

You, thief, challenged the boundaries of social norms in the workplace. I almost had to hug my boss.

And I too am a victim. (Aren’t we all?) Sometime last week someone stole my can coolers off my desk. How will I keep my drinks cold? How, I ask? How?

Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-Wan has taught you well. You have controlled your fear. Now, release your anger. Only your hatred can destroy me.
Join me, and I will complete your training. With our combined strength, we can end this destructive conflict and bring order to the galaxy.

That's terrible, but at least you didn't lose anything personally. Remind me to tell you about the time someone was shot to death in our apartment building, and when my boy came home there was a bloody handprint on the door and a trail of blood leading up the stairs.

Crime is fun!

Holy shit! I know the feeling of having possesions stolen from my home, but work - that would be a different story! If the computers were stolen, it could be crippling to your business. What a major el-paino in the el-asso.

I don't even give a second thought to the cleaners who come in at night. I leave cash out, computer equipment, CDs, etc. Maybe I should reconsider those practices.

Aaron, you are so dramatic! :) I bet that was a horrible experience though and scary too!

Oh my word, I leave half of my life laying out on my desk that anyone of my co-workers or cleaning staff could take. I left my credit card on my desk last weekend (Doing online shopping at work again), and for some reason I was not worried about at all. I think I will be keeping a closer watch on my stuff.

Those greedy bastards took your can coolers? I would make sure that gets put in the police report, that is 55 cents you should not be responsible to have to replace!
