The New Hood

The strangest thing that happened in my old neighborhood was the streaker.

Oh, and the twinkie tweaker who occasionally flitted around the neighborhood limp wristed and blown out of his mind. I never told you about him.

At the new pad there unfortunately haven’t been any streakers. But there have been prostitutes. (Strolling the street at noon on a Saturday.)

And the other night I was driving to pick up some soup at the grocery store (poor Aaron is sick) when a Hispanic dude and a black dude exchanged words and the Hispanic dude bashed in the back window of the black dude’s car with his bare fist. Of course the black dude stepped in front of my car and wouldn’t let me leave until the police got there. Which, being a nice guy and no dummy, I did wait and explained to the officer what I saw. There is still blood on my passenger’s side window from the Hispanic dude’s fist.

And this morning my roommate woke up to find a random man brushing his teeth in our fenced-in backyard. Just standing there in cut off jean shorts and a blue T-shirt, brushing his teeth like it was his own private bathroom.

I love humanity.

(Really, Mom, I promise it’s safe.)

Awww...city life, ain't it just grand? It sure does make great lunch conversation at work though.
You should look into washing off the blood on the car.

Aaron, you do seem to be a magnet for these things...

Was it the cut-off shorts that made you love humanity? Please clarify.

I love the city, too.

I remember my friend Andy telling me about how he went to the dumpster behind his apartment and found a guy smoking his crack pipe inside.

He decided he would wait and take out his trash later.

Well I'm in no twin cities, but we do have some random events here in Skagway as well. The other day, I was at Moe's Frontier bar, and for no reason there was a huge fight. Two guys who hadn't washed in weeks were apparently not friends when it came to sharing a PBR. Needless to say, this isn't about me. I'm just happy that Aaron's ok.
