Facials

Reason No. 576 why it’s fabulous to be a gay man: Relaxing weekends with six men giving each other facials and hand massages in quiet, rural Wisconsin. Rigid boundaries defining masculinity? Not here.

Pass the moisturizer please.

Comments:

It is those kind of blog entries that set the gay community back a few steps in history.

I thought your website was designed for "the 16-year-old gay boy in Farmtown, Mich., who is too afraid to mention his desires to anyone..."

However, with entries like that you slap the "average American" in the face with the fact that yeah you are gay, and prove to the anti-gay community why they are anti-gay.

Just to help you think about where I'm am coming from:

Reason No. 99090 & 99091 why it's fabulous to be straight.

I can procreate.

Every state in the US recognizes that I am married to the person I love, and allows me all the legal rights that come with that.

How does that make the gay community feel?

Aaron - sometimes that sort of relaxing weekend is exactly what ANYONE needs, no matter they be straight, gay, or otherwise. Perhaps the above commenter was simply exercising his "No Minnesota-nice allowed" rule. That sort of ignorance would certainly qualify. Anyone who knows you, even if only through your blog and a few shared email exchanges, loves you. Smile about that, and have a fantastic week that carries your perfect weekend forward.

Stuck in the Middle,

You also could give a friend a facial and a hand massage if you wanted. No one's stopping you.

This entry IS for the 16-year-old... to show him that it's okay to want to smear cream on his face and have fun doing it. There isn't any reason to apologize for that, or for enjoying being gay. It's a lot better than the alternative -- shame and a constant need to apologize for yourself.

Here, here Aaron.

... as opposed to "hear, hear" which is what I should have said.

I came back to Open Doors because I wanted to say more, but then I realized that you've already said it perfectly.

Have a great week.

To the bigot who posted first--I don't know what biology class you took, but gay people can procreate. As for the marriage thing, chances are fifty/fifty that your loving marriage will end in bitter divorce.

To sweet Aaron, is that Kiehl's Rare Earth Face Mask?

No, that's not Kiehl's Rare Earth Face Mask. That's Greg The Boyfriend. :)

One of the guys works for Aveda, so it was an all-Aveda afternoon.

Reason #577:

I'm aware of how it feels to receive messages like the one from "Stuck in the Middle," when I'm only trying to tell people I have fun being myself; so I don't send them.

"Stuck In the Middle" is just dramatizing his "stuckness." Unfortunate that he found your blog to vent upon.

I can procreate.

Every state in the US recognizes that I am married to the person I love.

Now if you straight people could only procreate with the people you love, rather than having those things mutually exclusive, society, families and individual lives would be much better off. Praise Jesus.

By the way, your BF really is a hunky stud, Aaron.
