Houston

With a connecting flight yesterday in blizzard blown Chicago, I almost didn’t make it to Houston. At noon, I was on the first non-canceled flight from Minneapolis to Chicago. At 2:40, I was on a plane intended for a 2:45 takeoff. At 5:30, we were still on the ground, still in our same seats. The runway was covered with snow, a valve on the plane wouldn’t close so they could de-ice, the tug got stuck pushing us from the jetway.

I almost had a breakdown. With Casey’s surgery starting at 6 a.m. the next morning, if that flight didn’t take off there was no way I would make it to Houston in time.

Finally, soon after 5:30 we took off. I think we were one of the few flights to make it out of Chicago all day.

Now, it’s almost 24 hours later. I’ve been in the waiting room with Casey’s parents and sister for almost 12 hours now. One of the doctors just came in and said that the surgery is over and that it went very well. We can see Casey in less than half an hour. It can’t come soon enough.

I will write more later. I’ve been posting updates on caseyquinn.com, so you can read those in the meantime.

Aaron, it's been a while since we last talked, but I wanted to let you know that you and Casey are in my thoughts. Hang in there.
